On Aug. 20, 2021, a couple celebrating their anniversary were struck and injured by an SUV as they crossed a crosswalk at Pickney and Anson streets in downtown Charleston.
The driver did not fully stop at the stop sign. Plaintiff, a 74-year-old man, was knocked to the ground, injuring his right shoulder, right hip and left knee.
After obtaining surveillance footage from a nearby business, plaintiff’s counsel was able to show negligent conduct by the driver, including his speed along a side street and not coming to a complete stop at the stop sign.
Plaintiff has been unable to fully return to the activities he enjoyed prior to his injuries, including travel, pickle ball, yardwork and exercise.
